What you can do

The whole success of the British Declaration of Independence depends on the PRESSURE which you, the voter can put on politicians, by pledging your vote to a candidate who has signed the BDI and by writing to your candidates and the press telling them that you have done so.
If parliamentary candidates think they will not be elected unless they do what you demand (sign the Declaration) then they will sign.

PLEASE DO AS MUCH OF THE FOLLOWING AS YOU CAN:
1. Pledge your vote on this website. Please ensure that everyone in your household does so too.
2. Email your own contacts and ask them to do the same
3. Get permission from others who are not on the internet to pledge their vote in their name address and post code.
4. Write to your local candidates to make sure they have a copy of the Declaration. If they have not got a copy contact us and we will email them the document.

Sample Letter to a candidate

Dear ……

I have been a regular voter for the ……………Party for many years but at this general election I will not be voting for you unless you sign the British Declaration of Independence. I am sure that signing will mean many extra votes for you.

I know it is unusual to ask a prospective parliamentary candidate to commit himself before an election but the refusal of successive Parliaments to govern is an unusual circumstance. The British Declaration of Independence goes to the very heart of our Democracy and Constitution – the sovereignty of the British people.

I see no point in voting into our Parliament representatives who are not prepared to exercise our Sovereignty in the interest of the British people.

So many politicians have said one thing at election time and done the opposite when in parliament that I can no longer trust what they say. That is why I regard the British Declaration of Independence as the most important issue in politics today. I for one will not vote for you if you do not sign up to the Declaration and thereby recognise that the British People are sovereign in their own country.

Refusing to sign means that you reject the Sovereignty of the British people, our national parliament and democracy itself. I can find several other political parties for whom I do not normally vote but who will exercise our the democratic Sovereignty when they get into Parliament.
If you have not yet received a Declaration to sign you should contact info@BDIcampaign.org giving your contact details. If you do not do so I will hold you responsible and vote accordingly.

Yours sincerely

John Bull

Sample letter to the Press
Sir,

I am increasingly worried about the loss of our nation's self-government and our democratic rights. In a Democracy the people are sovereign and can sack their law makers (that is the very definition of Democracy). But in recent years Parliament has, without consulting me shifted that Sovereignty to unaccountable powers over which I and other voters have no control.

I never seem to get a straight answer on this vital issue from any politician. I am therefore relying at this coming general election on a very straightforward, democratic document called the British Declaration of Independence which is being presented to all candidates of the parliamentary parties for their signature.

The Declaration commits them to voting for a Bill in Parliament which asserts the Sovereignty of the British People and confirms the democratic powers of our Parliament with all the rights which our 800-year-old British constitution has guaranteed the British people. The Declaration confirms our rule of law, the right to vote out our government, the sole right of our government to pass and repeal our laws, habeas corpus, trial by jury and other rights.

I no longer trust political parties which say one thing at elections and then do the opposite when in government.  I will be pledging my vote to a candidate who has signed the  BDI and urge other to do likewise on the Declaration website www.BDIcampaign.org

If the candidates of the mainstream Parties now in Parliament cannot sign the BDI then I will be forced to vote for one of the parties at present not in Parliament, several of whom are committed to asserting the Sovereignty of the British people.

Yours faithfully

John Bull
