October 2006 Quarterly Report - BDI exposes BOO
25 September 2006
Dear Friends and Supporters,
There is only one issue in British politics do we have a country, a Parliament and a democracy? In effect we have none of them and ONLY the BDI has the power to get them back.
The political arrangements in a number of parties, relevant to the BDI, have been in flux until recently. 'Dave' is determined that the 'Conservative Party' can win an election without a trace of conservatism, without a commitment to our country, Parliament and democracy and without most Conservative voters. With Tony (Charlemagne Prize) Blair gone many Tories might prefer Brown to Cameron.
UKIP has elected a new Leader, Nigel Farage, who almost immediately gave immunity to Better Off Out MPs from a UKIP challenge at the General Election. It is difficult to understand why anyone who really cared about getting our country back would be fooled into such a step.
The British people are sick to death of so called "eurosceptics" being offered cover for their failure. Those who have never taken a stand in Parliament when their vote was critical to the outcome, always look for an organisation like Better Off Out, and some ex-MP always cobbles one together for the purpose.
UKIP members and supporters will be particularly interested in the analysis below. They should immediately ask the UKIP leadership to guarantee immunity from a UKIP challenge at the next General Election for the only REAL sovereignty candidates, those who are irrevocably committed through the BDI. PLEASE WRITE TO NIGEL FARAGE NOW and let us know what response you get!
THE BDI EXPOSES THE DANGERS OF "BETTER OFF OUT"
The Freedom Association's "Better Off Out" campaign is unfortunately giving cover to those who refuse to act to restore the sovereignty of the British people and the powers of their Parliament. Indeed it is a distraction from providing a real solution to the sovereignty crisis. Furthermore BOO, if it got its way (whatever that may be in the light of what we quote from one of its MPs below!) would not in fact restore the sovereignty of the British people. Just leaving the European Union would not restore our democratic sovereignty, as other supranational powers (like the UN) daily demonstrate.
Although some of those who have joined Better Off Out have indeed committed themselves to sovereignty legislation through the BDI, many refuse to do so. One BOO MP has written to us refusing (not for the first time) to sign the British Declaration of Independence (which of course is the ONLY movement which actually unreservedly commits candidates and MPs to doing in Parliament what they SAY they believe in outside Parliament!)
In his letter the MP writes:
"I support Better Off Out because I think that is no more than a statement of fact. We would be better off out. However I did so with the qualification that I don't think withdrawal is a salient issue at the moment
so I won't commit myself to the introduction of a Bill for withdrawal"
Here is a classic example of democratic deceit. "We would be better off doing "x" (and I certainly am saying that for electoral purposes) but of course I cannot commit to doing it" is what he is saying. This is precisely the kind of behaviour which has lost us our sovereignty and lost MPs the respect of the nation and which is used at each election by Tory and Labour candidates to get into a powerless Parliament where they refuse to restore its power! It is exactly the kind of behaviour to which BOO is giving cover and respectability.
Another MP who has joined BOO, previously said that he could not sign the BDI because "anyone who advocates leaving the EU is seen as an extremist and an irrelevance". In fact the BDI does not mention "withdrawal" but (according to his own analysis) he is now seen as an extremist and an irrelevance' precisely because he has joined BOO and what he need NOT have stood for if he had signed the truly powerful BDI which does not mention the EU at all! His claim to support British Sovereignty has a very hollow ring because he actually refuses to do what is required and is within his power to achieve.
Better Off Out is therefore dangerous on all counts:
1. Some of its supporters do not stand for what they seem to be standing for
2. It will not restore the sovereignty of the British people
3. It gives cover to those who ALWAYS deceive the electorate about their real intentions
4. It can be easily cast as "extreme" by its opponents
5. It distracts from the main issue total assertion of the sovereignty of the British people.
6. It takes the negative (and failed) tactic of saying NO to the EU rather YES to sovereignty.
It is sad that the Association founded by Norris McWhirter should be pursuing a line of which Norris himself would not have approved. He was very much alive to the importance of making the enemy identify themselves.
Moreover, considering that BOO asks nothing of MPs, it is singularly unsuccessful in obtaining signatures way behind the BDI in numbers, and our MPs are committed, on pain of resignation, to sovereignty legislation! But then serious MPs are prepared to take a great risk for a great reward, and recovering Britain is a great reward.
ONLY THE BDI FORCES CANDIDATES ONTO THEIR TRUE PLATFORM SO THAT THE ELECTORATE CAN MAKE AN INFORMED CHOICE ABOUT WHO THEY WANT TO ENTRUST WITH THEIR SOVEREIGNTY FOR THE MAXIMUM 5 YEAR PERIOD OF A PARLIAMENT.
