A small selection of testimonials and quotes we have put together.
"Congratulations for organising this - a superb move! It ought to sort out the patriots and genuine MPs from the career politicians. Please let us know how we can help in any way, or further this cause."
Graham Wood
After going to one of your meetings we found it most uplifting.
Mr and Mrs Thomas Clout
'Well done BDI. We must re-establish beyond doubt the independence of our country.'
Roger Helmer MEP
How, apart from the highly specific actions in the BDI, do we get our country back? If not by an Act of Parliament, by what? If a candidate is not willing to commit to such an action, what point is there in electing him? It is precisely because it is EFFECTIVE that Conservative Central Office, having blown warm, suddenly blew cold on it. They will permit a form of words which does not commit to action - because they intend that none should be taken.
Edward Spalton, Derbyshire
The Campaign for an Independent Britain supports the British Declaration of Independence. What is in it that deters you from recommending Conservative candidates or indeed all candidates to sign it? It doesn't even mention the EU or withdrawal. Surely no problem for Conservative candidates? It asserts what they are sent to Parliament to do.
Refusal to sign will be used against candidates I'm sure in the electioneering
George West, CIB
I wish you all success
Sir John Hoskyns
One virtue of the BDI is its pitiless exposure of all those who talk Euro-sceptic but don't mean it. Often, they are people we have cheered for their speeches but have failed to lynch for their voting records. Now
they are hanging themselves.
A former Conservative
The BDI is a brilliant idea and thank you for giving us a platform for our dissent! Good luck with the project- I hear it has already 'stung' one party!
Ferne Abbott
Thank you for this e-mail, as a supporter of both BDI and BOO, the Democracy
Movement, Defenders of the Realm, the Bruges Group and a UKIP dog-soldier, I
am forced to say that it's the first piece of fundamental common sense I've
read in years!
Mike Hall
I feel certain that the BDI has suggested to the vast majority attending our meeting a different way of considering how to select their vote. The BDI has clearly stimulated interest.
Jean Jackson, Louth
Congratulations on your excellent strategy embodied within BDI. Bloody brilliant.
Derek Savage
I found your presentation of the BDI inspiring.
John Gibson, BWMA
This, from the British Declaration of Independence, surely removes any doubts about the intentions of the Conservative Party. No eurosceptic, no patriot, no true Conservative, no Libertarian or classical Liberal can possibly vote for them.
Dr Chris Tame, Libertarian Alliance
"Since 1215 at Runnymede the English people have been asserting their sovereign rights. I am glad to see the same spirit is still alive and well in the British people almost 800 years later."
Baroness Thatcher of Kesteven, Prime Minister 1979 – 1990
'We found the apathy amongst the electorate extremely high yet many showed great interest in the Declaration literature - the public really do want change. However this was an absolutely brilliant effort on the part of the instigators and all helpers - we are sure this movement will go from strength to strength.'
Party activist canvassing at the 2001 General Election
"Fortunately my PPC is committed to British Sovereignty - before resolving to do any work for him I had to assure myself of his position on this issue. However it is with considerable regret that I find myself being asked to sign in absentia a noncommittal reply drafted by Francis Maude and send this to you on behalf of this candidate....I believe a valuable opportunity is being squandered for no good reason"
Conservative Party Campaign worker, April 2001
"In the beginning of a change, the Patriot is a scarce man, brave, hated and scorned. When his cause succeeds, however, the timid join him, for then it costs nothing to be a patriot."
Mark Twain quoted by Mr Nick Scott
“My sincere congratulations to you on what I can only describe as an outstanding achievement in such a short period of time and on such a small budget. I am thinking of putting you up for Chancellor of the Exchequer!”
Patrick Barbour, The Barbour Index
"Thank God, somebody is at last waking up to doing something to protect our basic interests."
Voter disinchanted with all parties
"For the coming election this should be the BIG ISSUE. I would willingly fight the war all over again if it would keep us free (aged 91)"
War Veteran voting for the last time!
"God Bless your efforts to restore rectitude, integrity and dare I say it, statesmanship in our national assemblies."

23rd February 2001
